muffking Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Due to the previous owner spilling something sticky down the centre console I need to know how to remove the climate control unit in order to strip the front cover off it so that I can clean round all the buttons as they are sticking. Does anyone know how it comes out? Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I think you can remove it after taking out the stereo head unit - I have doen it a few times but can't remember exactly how!! I am sure someone on here will know. Quote
NikpV Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 IIRC Ford are vague on the subject ..... Remove the climate control assembly bezel. Detach the climate control assembly (4 screws under bezel). Remove the climate control assembly. Disconnect the climate control assembly electrical connectors. If you have ATC it needs initialising with WDS Quote
muffking Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Ahha, so the front panel comes off to reveal screws then? Quote
muffking Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Thanks Nik. I'll have a crack at it in a couple of days. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 just hold on .... isn't the bezel they refer to, the trim that goes round the centre console? I'd start by talking the radio out and having a good look round inside the console .... Quote
NikpV Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 umm - just checked diagram and it looks llike the bezel around the cc unit see picture ... Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Gulp - on mine, the bezel is such a good fit it doesn't appear to be a separate piece of trim from the unit's front. Don't fancy trying to lever it off....... Quote
NikpV Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Yeah this is all theoretical - I've not needed to try yet Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I am certain that the unit comes out without moving the trim. Take out the Radio (make sure you have the code) and see how it goes from there. I am sure that's how I got mine out. It was taken out twice when I had the Phone fitted. Quote
Dally Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 If you have factory fit sat nav, take it out - the bezel around the CC panel can be pulled off from the top edge. Its not stuck in too tight. I don't know about non sat nav facias but guess that blu tac stuck to the bezel may just give enough stick to be able to pull it off as there seems to be no locking tangs on it. Quote
lazyb5 Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Hi yes the bezel to take off is the one around the climate control i just pulled mine off and there are 4 screws underneath the bezel on mine wasnt too tight Quote
muffking Posted April 22, 2006 Author Report Posted April 22, 2006 I agree, thanks for the help guys. I used a stanley knife blade to open out the climate bezel enough to prize it off with my fingers, and there's the 4 screws hidden behind it. It took about half an hour to clean the goo out from all of the buttons as I had to almost completely strip it down, but it's as good as new now and the buttons don't stick at all. Stereo next Quote

[/quote] did you have a pre-facelift model, on these you remove the radio and release the clips on the cc module from behind perhaps the memory is not so faulty Quote

dadnox Posted January 31, 2017 Report Posted January 31, 2017 I changed my unit and now when i turn on the ignition it flashes for 30 seconds then it comes up ok and runs normally is there a way to stop this? problem with compression in ac system. try resetting unit (as i remember it was some combination by pressing some buttons at same time, but no memory of which ones, google it...) and also try putting on cold/LOW, if you have cold - ok, if not , sorry you have to refuel ac system or check installation (pipes-high/low presure and/with compresor) <<bad scenario :) Quote
